Bless Your 'Heart & Home' is a small business with a big dream to spread creativity, joy, and the love of Jesus! Around here, painting on wood is my main thing, but have recently branched into painting on walls (Oh my! Pretty please don't tell my momma!). My name is Melissa. I'm the designer and artist behind all of this art. My hope is that you will enjoy what you see, but first let me tell you a little bit about me :)
At first glance, you will probably find, I'm just your 'girl next door' southern girl residing here in the peach state with my best friend and husband, busy baby boy, and 2 VERY furry fur babies. I'm also a radiation therapist by day with the cancer field very close to my heart. In my time away from 'work' I enjoy anything farmhouse, fixer upper projects, family and friend surrounded, and faith stirring. And did I I mention I enjoy anything crafty?!
Beyond the blessings that you'll see around me today, I count the second chance at life that I've been given at life as one of my biggest! At age 11, I was diagnosed with bone cancer. During almost 2 years of a journey through chemo, multiple surgeries, many week long hospital stays, and lots of prayers, art was my saving grace. As Brene Brown said in Braving the Wilderness, "Art has the power to render sorrow beautiful, make loneliness a shared experience, and transform despair into hope... art: the ability to both capture our pain and deliver us from it at the same time." Just like she said, God allowed me to focus on the art, not the scars, the needles, the chemo drugs, nausea, or the bald head that I had. While He has removed the cancer, He has not removed my love for art! So I get my hands on it any chance I get!
